JOB TITLE 

Senior Estimator 

JOB SUMMARY

A Senior Estimator is responsible for evaluating and determining the approximate costs of construction and developing an Opinion of Probable Cost (estimate). The primary goal is to provide thorough and competitive estimates with a high probability of award. Requires experience to price significant and prominent projects within the industry. Possesses an in-depth understanding of construction trades, project types, building techniques, materials, labor costs, and industry standards.

EXPERIENCE

Background of 8+ years in construction estimating. In-depth knowledge of multiple product types and trades. A bachelor's or master's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related discipline. Professional certifications in construction estimating or project management are a plus. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviewing project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work. Analyzing project proposals to determine costs and prepare detailed estimates. Communicate with project teams to clarify project details. Identify potential cost-saving measures and propose alternatives to clients. Attending pre-bid meetings and site visits. Collaborate with other departments and provide occasional support to project managers during the construction phase. Work independently on large projects and multiple bids.

SKILLS

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills with the capacity to work well under pressure. Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques. Proficient in construction estimating software and tools, reviewing and interpreting construction documents, reading and writing of technical specifications; on screen take-off software, Bluebeam, Excel, Word, Outlook, Zoom, and AutoCad plan viewing.
